Giclee Prints

Pronounced "jhee-clay", giclee is a sophisticated inkjet printing method. It merges the use of professional grade large format printers with archival pigment inks, acid free watercolor papers and canvas. By using custom profiles, precise color correction and expert scanning, pigment printing can render subtle gradations and many colors that would be out of range with other technologies.

Pigment printing refers to the use of pigments in various states to achieve brilliant and long lasting work. Artists have painted with pigments for centuries with the purpose of creating fade resistant and saturated, thick colors. Photographers use different techniques such as "oil pigment printing" to create unique results.

Bio

With an eye for design and a passion for art, shoe designer and artist Mark Schwartz has transformed the way the world looks at shoes today. For over 30 years, Mark has been churning out unique and interesting paintings of shoes; an accessory that he considers to be the most artistic and important. His paintings are an extension of his chic stilettos and sandal designs that he breathed life into and these mean a lot more than merely capturing his vision on paper. With his mentors Roger Vivier and Andy Warhol encouraging him to pursue his passion for transforming this three-dimensional object into a visually provocative subject through his vibrant color-saturated paintings, today Mark is one of the few designers who has successfully captured the subtle beauty of this everyday accessory. His artful craftsmanship that combines the rhythmic strokes of one of his idols, Jackson Pollack and the unique aesthetics of the pop art movement is easily recognized by most designers.

Mark Schwartz has reinvented the shoe through his paintings that truly capture the feminine movement and grace of a stunning pair of stilettos in a colorful sweep of abstract geometric shapes. His designs have elevated this everyday accessory into an iconic art form.
